7 Home Remedies for Hair Removal and After-Treatment:

we hate unwanted hair. Both women and men constantly search for natural alternatives for hair removal, whether it be facial, pubic or on various other areas on the human body. The reasons why we end up with unwanted hair are countless, ranging from hormonal imbalances to some types of medication we use. Popping into a salon every time you want to get a wax or pulling out a razor to do the trick isn’t exactly the optimum solution for removing hair all the time, especially when there are so many do-it-yourself solutions out there. You can find quite a few of these ingredients in your kitchen, or at least have the possibility to make a quick trip to your local super market to put the recipe together. No need to fear, we guarantee that all of our suggestions are 100% natural and safe to “cook up” by yourself at your home.

1. Banana & Oatmeal Scrub

Wow, can you spell Y-U-M-M-Y? Our first choice is not only delicious, but also a great way for removing unwanted hair and remaining with super smooth skin. To get this super recipe down right, you’re going to need just two simple ingredients and a bowl: 1 ripe banana and between 1-2 teaspoons of oatmeal. Pretty easy so far, right? Even the process is simple: just unpeel the banana, mash it into a paste in the bowl and mix it up with oatmeal. After that, apply the mixture to the designated body spot with circular movements for around 15 minutes. In the end, wash it off and repeat the process twice a week for great, natural results.

2. Chickpea flour / Gram flour Mask

Now this method sounds pretty cute, doesn’t it? We have India to thank for this natural remedy, as use chickpea flour (aka gram flour or garbanzo beans flour) as a traditional way for both removal and prevention of hair. It is famous for being so safe that it can actually be used on small children to maintain clean and soft skin with no hair. You’re going to need half a bowl of chickpea flour, half a bowl of milk, 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1 teaspoon of fresh cream, but use the last ingredient only if you do not have oily skin. Preparation for this homemade mix is also simple: stir all the ingredients in a bowl until it turns into a paste-like substance. Cover all the areas where you want hair to be removed, but be careful to apply it in the direction your hair grows. After around 30 minutes, rub the composition in the opposite direction of hair growth and then wash it all off with warm water. Voila!

3. Camphor & White Pepper

This is a great solution if you want to remove hair from your legs. Be careful though, these ingredients can cause a slight burning feeling, so that’s why we recommend them only for leg hair removal. Contrary to popular belief, kerosene oil (also known as lamp fuel) DOES NOT help the process. Actually, it has proven to be quite dangerous, as this oil is highly flammable. In case you absolutely want to apply oil, you can choose almond oil as a natural and healthy alternative. To get the paste together, take 2 tablespoons of camphor and 2 of white pepper and a couple of drops of almond oil if you want to obtain a soothing effect. Take the white pepper and grind it until you get a very fine powder, then you combine the result with camphor. After putting in the optional almond oil, you stir all the ingredients together and apply the paste to your legs. Wait around 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off and admire your now hairless legs.

4. Egg Mask

Even though this alternative can get a bit painful, you don’t need to worry because it’s made out of 100% natural ingredients that you’ll probably pick up from your own kitchen. We recommend this egg-based solution because it literally waxes facial hair after it dries. Just get an egg, a tablespoon of sugar and half a tablespoon of corn flour. After separating the egg white, mix it with sugar and corn flour and stir the composition until you get a pasty-like substance. Put in on your face and wait till it dries before firmly pulling it off. Enjoy your hair-free face!

5. Lentil & Potatoes

It seems that India has brought us yet another delightful method for our home remedies for hair removal list. Their tradition has provided us with moong daal, commonly known as yellow lentil. When mixed with a peeled potato, it acts as great dye to make a light hair color and also a wonderful alternative for removing hair altogether. It is well known as an Ayurvedic alternative perfect for your face, arms, legs or other parts of your body. You are doing to need 1 vessel of potato (don’t forget to pulverize and peel it), 1 bowl of yellow lentil, 1 tablespoon of honey, 4 tablespoons of lemon juice and a cloth. The process takes a bit more time, but it’s certainly effective. After putting a crushed potato in your bowl, you take another bowl and leave the yellow lentil in water over the night. The following morning, you take separate the water and mix the lentil into a glue-like paste. You then use your cloth to extract juice from the potato and add the lentil, lemon juice and honey, mixing the entire composition. Apply the mixture on the body part you want to work on and wait for it to dry entirely (it can take from 15 to 30 minutes). Use your fingers to rub it off and your hair shall be pulled from your skin, owing to the paste. You should do this regularly for complete, permanent and long-term hair removal.

6. Onion & Basil

Little do people know that onion and basil are way more than just delicious ingredients for home-cooked meals, but that they are also the key for removing hair for a long time. If you mix the two together, you get an awesome super paste that will maintain healthy skin and serve as a natural alternative for hair removal. All you need is 2 onions and about 10 basil leaves. First you have to get into the onion layers and remove the thin see-through membranes in order to grind them with the basil leaves. After obtaining a paste, you can apply it on the area and leave it for anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes. At the end, you wash it all off and repeat these actions a few times a week. With each application, the hair will become more and more removed from its roots and, after a month, you will enjoy your hair-free body part.

7. Papaya

Papaya is a miracle-worker when it comes to homemade remedies for hair removal. It’s great that you can apply it no matter your skin type, as it does not harm your epidermis. Papain is a key enzyme which can be found in papaya and that also breaks down the hair follicles. In other words, it actually prevents hair growth and exfoliates your skin as well. There are two main ways in which you can apply this remedy: the first involves just papaya and turmeric powder, the second contains a series of easy-to-get ingredients.

Method A

Take a raw papaya, use a peeler to clean it and then chop it up into pieces. Take a few of the slices and grind them into a paste, afterwards taking 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture and adding it to half a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Mix it all up and apply to any part of your body, carefully rubbing it for about 15 minutes and then washing it away. Repeat 1-2 times a week to become happily cleared of hair.

Method B

Here we have a longer list of ingredients, but it’s worth it if you’re looking for removing hair on a long-term basis. You need ¼ tablespoon of each of these: papaya powder, turmeric powder, gram flour; 2 tablespoons of mustard oil, 4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, a dry and clean cloth and a moisturizer for after-treatment. The preparation process is quite easy: you take all of the ingredients and stir them until you obtain a paste, which you afterwards apply in the opposite direction of that which your hair grows. Wait for it to all dry off (usually about 15 minutes) and rub in the same direction with the dry cloth. When you have completely removed all the paste, you wash off with water and pat the area of skin with a clean towel until it’s dry. Do this a few times a week for at least 3 months and you’ll have an amazing permanent and natural solution for hair removal. Don’t forget to apply a moisturizer such as olive oil after each application, so your skin will remain healthy and silky smooth.
